This page contains the announcement of a new list that uses a novel technique to deal with inappropriate postings by people unable to contain their need to express unpopular points of view, or to express their concerns with excessive emotionality. Read it and weep.
Since its beginning, activity on this list has been brisk.

In a conversation at church (UUS) today, it was suggested that someone should start a new list for UUCF with no posting rules. I replied that someone was planning to do this, but I did not feel at libertyto say that you are the one. Is it ok if I say that you are planning to do this?
Mike.

Michael,
I just sent out emails last night announcing the availability of the new list. (You should have received one).
I'm the only one who can send email invitations that allow potential subscribers to simply reply to the message they receive in order to subscribe. But since the list is open, anyone who chooses may subscribe on their own by visiting:
http://ruminations.listbot.com
All they need to do is enter their email address and check the "subscribe" box. They should then receive the same welcome message that I had sent in the original invitations.
I've made the archives public. The only messages excluded are the few test messages I sent to myself during the initialization phase.
Everyone is welcome to participate (even, gasp, non-Unitarian types).

Welcome to "Birds of A Feather".
This is an email list server intended to be a space where you can share your thoughts, feelings and ideas about any topic that moves you, for whatever reason. There are no rules. We will jointly create this space. It will be, or not be, whatever you make it.
It is a private space, because it is not advertised. You received this message because you were invited by someone already on the list. You choose to subscribe, or not. You choose to participate, or not.
It is a public space, because what you write here is shared among all subscribers without editing or exclusion. It is a public space because as a subscriber, you invite anyone you choose for whatever reason. Also, it is a public space because anyone who has the requisite knowledge and inclination may choose to view what is written here. (It is accessible on the Internet to those who know how and have the inclination to find it.)
It is your space because you choose to invite others, or not; because you choose to share, or not. This list is not meant to be an exclusive place. Everyone is welcome. No one will ever be asked to leave. You may invite anyone you choose.
There are no rules.
