We learn from physical science that all things are moving to equilibrium, uniformity of being, stability, but not uniformity of moving. As it happens, the interesting things happen on the way, rather than at the end. As the river flows, eddies appear, because uniformity of moving is in itself unstable, and unlike uniformity of being, generates entities that are greater than itself. Likewise, as energy is released from matter, it is not in an even flow, but in dancing flame. Likewise again, as the matter and energy flow outward from the origin, we appear - eddies and flames, swirls in waves that will settle in the terminal flatness. The platypus is a smaller spark, or perhaps a smaller inferno on the way to us, as perhaps we are in regard to what is yet to appear. We like to think that our wild fantasies give us an inkling of what might happen, but is this not hubris?
