The photographs in these pages are relatively low resolution, in files not exceeding approximately 100k in size. In all cases, clicking a small image will access a high resolution image whose size may exceed 5 meg. Even with wide-band, these will not download rapidly. An image that can be clicked has a thin colored border.
Occasionally, when we visit Szentgerice, Rev. Bálázs Sándor takes us on an excursion by car. It usually includes an overnight stay somewhere, and it is usually not quite clear, beforehand, where we are going. At least in part, this is due to language limitations. We have never been disappointed. The trip always includes stops at places where he has some business to tend to, so we get to tour for an hour or two. In 2005, the original plans were moot, because they apparently changed on the way through use of his cell phone, and were told that we would tour Csíkszereda. Later he added that we would visit his son, whom we know, and even later, he mentioned that we would also see his son's girlfriend, whom we had previously met.
We did not go to Csíkszereda, all though on the way, this was not obvious to us. Instead, we drove into the mountains along winding roads until we arrived at a small house in a settled area, and it was make clear that we had arrived. But where? In the absence of a conceptual context, that which is seen is not understood. But something began to gel when the girlfriend greeted us and informed us that she only opened this small house, because she thought that the large one would be unnecessary.
We think that the pictures make it clear what sort of place we were at. In case some of the scenes hint at a particular kind of athletic activity, appropriate equipment was stacked in the corner of the room in which we slept. (I assure you that I (Mike) experienced not the slightest temptation to make use if it.) The young couple is in the process commercially developing the place. We conjecture that property is held by the girlfriend's family.
Additionally, both of the young people are trained as physical therapists. When we finally got to nearby Csíkszereda, among other things, we were shown the facility that they were turning into a commercial health club. They may use some of our photos of their mountain place for advertising. We said that there would be no charge, but they would have to give Rosalie a free massage on our next visit.
If we could find a way to invest in the development of that area of Transylvania, we would do it.
